The House Supervisor is responsible for the administrative oversight and day-to-day management of patient care areas and other facility departments. This role will direct and develop staff; collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary staff; and respond to the needs of patients and their families.

Job Requirements         


Associate’s Degree in nursing required, Bachelor’s Degree in nursing is preferred


BLS - CPR Card from the American Heart Association within 60 days of hire

Valid RN State Licensure


A minimum of 2-4 years of nursing experience as a RN in an acute care and/or post-acute care environment required

A minimum of 1 year of experience in a house supervisor role required, preferably in an acute care setting

Experience with federal, state and local rules/regulations, Joint Commission, and Regulatory Compliance required Skills

Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills

Effective written, and oral communication skills

Position Reports to Chief Nursing Officer

Overall Responsibilities

Management and Planning

Adhere to all BTC policies, procedures and/or programs and processes to improve or enhance the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of outcomes

Assess daily patient care needs and develop and distribute patient care assignments, ensuring appropriate patient care is given

Evaluate the effectiveness of patient care and identify any issues that affect desired patient outcomes

Conduct nursing rounds to maintain visibility, monitor activity, and serve as a resource

Respond to concerns related to patient care and provide adequate and appropriate response through established channels

Management of Staff

Manage all clinical staff scheduling and ensure appropriate and adequate staffing levels to meet patient care needs

Serve as coach/mentor to all BTC staff

Quality and Compliance

The individual will glean, through various QAPI initiatives, information that will drive future Quality Improvement Efforts and minimize risk.

Supervise and manage disease programs. 

Oversee risk management, quality, performance improvement, regulatory, accreditation surveys and infectious control initiatives

Follow established policies, procedures, programs and processes to

ensure quality, efficiency and effectiveness of outcomes

Impact patient care directly by following standards of care, clinical practice guidelines, and policies/procedures

Utilize principles of performance improvement process with all staff to improve patient care

Collect, review and analyze patient data trending and quality review

Educational Program Delivery and Management

Conduct one-on-one teaching for patient and family to facilitate plan of care, promote positive outcomes, and encourage patient’s independence

Direct Patient Care

Visit patients upon admission to BTC and periodically throughout their stay

Lead by example in answering call lights in a timely manner. Be attentive to patients comforts and needs

Manage facility and patient care emergency response

Will assist with direct patient care up to and including a complete patient assignment


All other duties as assigned


Ability to adhere to a flexible schedule which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays and on- call rotation as assigned.


Have the ability to safely perform movements such as pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching and lifting up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
